The Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers (COTRA) organised a one-day conference of Ogoni traditional rulers especially paramount rulers of towns, villages and communities. It was held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Peace and Freedom Centre, Bori-Ogoni and attended by over hundred and fifty (150)traditional rulers drawn from across Ogoni villages, towns and communities.

The Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers (COTRA) organised a one-day conference of Ogoni traditional rulers especially paramount rulers of towns, villages and communities. It was held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Peace and Freedom Centre, Bori-Ogoni and attended by over hundred and fifty (150)traditional rulers drawn from across Ogoni villages, towns and communities.

The conference was organised to facilitate robust discussions and deliberations on the security situation in Ogoni as well as recent developments affecting the Ogoni especially the approval by President Mohammadu Buhari led Federal Government of wide ranging actions to fast-track implementation of recommendations of the United Nations Programme (UNEP) report on Ogoniland. 
 
At the end of the discussions and deliberations, the conference issued the following communique.
 
1. The conference resolved and consequently called on all traditional rulers to work for peace and security of their respective communities to enhance progress, stability and the general wellbeing of the people. It warned that insecurity is an ill wind that blows no one any good and urged the participants to ensure peace in their domains.
 
 
2. The meeting congratulated President Mohammadu Buhari for approving actions geared towards quickening the implementation of the UNEP environmental assessment report on Ogoniland. It pledged her commitment to supporting and cooperating with government and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the implementation exercise.
 
3. It appealed to the President and the Federal Government to ensure the full implementation of the report in accordance with the recommendations contained in the report.
 
4. It commended the leadership of MOSOP for its commitment to purposeful and community-friendly leadership as well as her roles leading to the action of government relating to the planned quick take-off and comprehensive remediation and restoration of the hydrocarbon ruined Ogoni environment.
 
5. The conference expressed satisfaction with the MOSOP leadership and unanimously passed a vote confidence on the President of MOSOP and called on all sons and daughters of Ogoni to continue to support the MOSOP leader and his leadership.
