MOSOP President, Mr. Legborsi Saro Pyagbara Continues 3-Nations Tour, called on Countries to develop new framework of engagement with Indigenous Peoples

Egypt, June 7, 2014.  The President of Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), Comrade  Legborsi Saro Pyagbara on  June 6th 2014 arrived Egypt on what is anticipated to be  the last leg of his three-nation tour, which began last month covering the  United States of America , Mexico  and now Egypt to  solicit  support for the Ogoni Struggle and  reassure   supporters of  MOSOP’s  unwavering commitment to the realisation of the goals of the struggle  and the protection  of the Ogoni people  in the light of the ongoing  environmental crisis in the area  and political uncertainties in the country.

MOSOP requested that UNPO send a mission to Ogoniland in May 1993. Around the same time Shell International’s representatives suggested UNPO should visit Ogoniland to gain a better understanding of the situation.

The Continuation of the Discrimination Against the Ogoni People

Since the submission of our shadow report to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), certain developments have taken place in Nigeria which is a glaring manifestation of the continuing discrimination that the Ogoni people face and will continue to face in the nation ,if no action is taken to mitigate their precarious situation.

This publication entitled "Whither Ogoni-Shell Reconciliation?" attempts to explain where the Reconciliation process presently is in MOSOP's view as well as inform the people of MOSOP's position on these issues, especially within the maze of a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding that have generated such controversy capable of precipitating another crisis which MOSOP have sworn against.
